JO IS A COMMUNICATIONS DESIGNER

For nearly two decades now, Jo O has worked as a freelance translator, writer, copy editor, website content designer, and graphic designer for a range of industries.

From the very start, her career was driven by a passion to help others be well understood.

Her time in college and university studying anthropology, linguistics, pedagogy, literature, translation, and management was all about exploring the nature, the art, and the business of human communication.

Jo is fuelled by a great wonder for “messages that move.” She is insatiably curious about understanding how communication goes wrong and discovering how powerful well-developed messages can be.

Her focus and specialty is making communication work better.

Jo brings projects of all sizes to the finish line on time and supports learning and friendly collaboration along the way.

Being heard is important

Being heard is important, but being understood is the real goal.

Effective communication is about removing the obstacles that exist between the message and the audience.

Making the message easy to understand is critical. After that, it’s about making it compelling.

To make this happen, we need to understand who will be consuming our message, and how, and we need to be crystal clear about what we want them to know and why.
